Haiti embassy in england: exploitation and corruption alert!

Trapped in Exploitation: My Journey from Haiti to Homelessness in the UK

My name is Rosie, and I am 33 years old. My journey to the UK began with a glimmer of hope but has since turned into a nightmare of exploitation and helplessness. Sponsored by the current Haitian Ambassador, Mr. Saint-armand, I signed a £2,000-a-month contract to work as his assistant, a promise that seemed like an escape from the crisis engulfing my homeland.

Arriving in the UK, my expectations were quickly shattered. Mr. Saint-armand assisted me in opening a bank account but kept all the account details, including passwords, to himself. While I did receive the promised £2,000 monthly, I was coerced into transferring half of it to his wife, leaving me with only £1,000. My daily routine, from 5 AM to 7 PM, was filled with duties far beyond my contractual agreement, including childcare, cleaning, cooking, shopping, and traveling as an assistant. I worked every day without a single day off.

I endured these conditions without protest for several reasons. My family back in Haiti relied on me as their sole hope, and I feared the consequences of being sent back to a country where gang violence terrorizes the population daily. My situation became even more dire when I made a minor mistake – burning a crêpe for the children. In response, Mrs. Saint-armand threatened to send me back to Haiti, a threat that left me feeling utterly trapped.

In August, my situation took a turn for the worse when my sponsor asked me to leave. I found myself homeless, with no family or support network in the UK. Returning to Haiti was not an option due to the severe instability and insecurity there. Despite being cast out, my sponsor continued to deposit money into my bank account, only to withdraw it himself without my knowledge. A bank adviser revealed the fraudulent transactions, identifying Mr. Euvrard Saint-armand as the culprit.

I turned to Tikibar, the only haunt of the Haitian community in London, for support, but the manager, Mr Wilford refused to help me without the agreement of the ambassador.

An haitian woman with a big heart who grew up in the united states finally hosted several hours away from London.

I feel utterly powerless, trapped in a foreign land with no knowledge of the laws or my rights. My sponsor took advantage of my desperation, exploiting and cheating me at every turn. My limited work permit expires in December 2024, and I am in urgent need of assistance to navigate this situation and secure my future here.

I am reaching out in the hope that someone can provide guidance and support. My story is a plea for help, a call for justice, and a request for understanding from those who can offer assistance. I am determined to find a solution to my immigration status and to reclaim my life from the grip of exploitation.

If you or anyone you know can help me, please reach out. Your support could make all the difference in my fight for a better future.
